New Wave Streams

FYI, Team. You can now listen to New Wave on Spotify or the ear-hole service of your choice. What are my thoughts on Spotify? I’d prefer not to get into it, but since you asked…I’ll take a somewhat neutral stance. As a music fan it is fantastic and I’m not sure if I could live without having all recorded music available to stream instantly. As an artist for whom the probability of making money is very low, it is great to have a semi-open platform to release and distribute music. If I were an artist that expected compensation for my work (which perhaps I should be?) then I would think the revenue model is clearly unsustainable for artists. Hey, maybe that’s why more of a direct distribution model like this platform could be a good idea? I don’t know, stop asking!

Regardless, this isn’t a platform for listening to music, but these are and shucks, I very much appreciate you listening at all on any platform.

I listen to my own stuff on Spotify all the time and it is a fun music discovery tool to see what the algorithm thinks you sound like. Miter radio on Spotify is basically all Herb Alpert for some reason.

Speaking of algorithms, I need to confess that the cover art is a DALL-E creation. What do I think of AI art generators? Nope, not taking the bait. Not yet at least. From a practical standpoint (to accomplish this project of releasing 12 singles in a year) cover art is yet another thing to do. Asking DALL-E to make something silly based on the text input “synthwave surfer,” seemed efficient and appropriate. Also, I’m not sure you could ask a human to make such a stupid image…and it’s perfect. Thanks to my homie DALL-E for the art. You may have noticed the cover art to Shelled is amazing. This will require further discussion at later time.
