I’m interested in giving this a shot. I already run another collective label called Apptronica that I release my own Bandcamp albums and compilations on, but I love a good social experiment.

Hey, I’m interested. I noticed you subscribed to my stack today. I listened to your music on Bandcamp. It’s awesome. I’m excited about finding it. Honestly, this is the sort of thing I was hoping I would find more on Substack. I’m going to post about my Bandcamp page (Deseret Buffalo) on my page soon (I’m still revising the copy). BTW, I saw you are in Denver, I’m in Salt Lake.

Awesome and thanks! I've checked out your writing and music a little more (was able to find the bandcamp page), great stuff. Really inventive and creative and I love the rhythm of your prose. You're in! Feel free to call yourself an artist/co-president of LABELABEL and use these "powers" for good or evil or whatever. I'll dig in a bit more and share via notes and a future newsletter.

I feel like the idea is nascent and should evolve over time...for example, I appreciate the recommendation and it seems like a good mechanism for cross promotion of this type of work but don't want it to feel like that is required. So, feel free to evolve the idea as you see fit- you're the co-president.

Thanks. We could also mention each other or do guest posts as well. I also have a friend that does Video Art (although he made some music too) that has a page. Maybe he would also be interested.

This sounds great. Quick question. Can music that has already been released be featured here? (I ain’t got a label)

Awesome! great to have you, Britta. The answer is yes, definitely, feel free to use Labelabel however you would like, you are a co-president. There is no central place to track releases at this point, but it's definitely something to think about. My goal is to not have any real hierarchy, people can do whatever they want, but I am also happy to do some work to help coordinate stuff and try and support what y'all are doing. Or, if there is some collective idea that we want to implement that I think would be fun: like a music video show! Having a separate "labelabel" newsletter or bandcamp page is definitely something to consider!

Sometime soon, I'll send a Note tagging people and letting folks know that you are in and that your music and newsletter are awesome, I've also been giving people free subscriptions to my pub to help with chat communications, but I'm thinking email is actually easiest until they get some DMs or group chat feature here.

Awesome, you're in! Thanks, Eric. Just checking out your music and posts, really great stuff! I'll gladly recommend your newsletter, feel free to call yourself Artist and Co-President of LaBelaBel, capitalize and pronounce it however you would like, and do whatever you want with these powers! I'll also give you a free subscription to my newsletter just to loop you in on chats for a current project- I think we could use your video!

No problem and thanks very much! We've been trying to coordinate a bit via a google doc and the chat feature. You should now be able to see some of the threads and access stuff in my chat. Let me know if that works- I can also send links via email. Cheers!
