Marshall McLuhan was fond of quoting a Balinese saying "we have no art, we do everything as well as we can."

But ultimately yes, we are competing with everything on the phone. This is why I think a winning strategy is simply "have your art not on the phone." 🤣

I love your tape, I've picked up CDs from other artists from your tape.

Is it smaller audience, yes. But you stand out. I will associate this orange tape with the crazy cover with you.

You can't get this even on substack where everyone "looks" the same.

Anyway, that's my strategy. Cheers mate. Happy new year and looking forward to more great stuff from you in 2025.

I’m not a music expert or know anything about it:

“Another thing that I want to do in my music is to elevate groove and make things less robotic.”

Could it be achieved by replicating recordings techniques of a time where culture was “less robotic”?

thanks for the comment! Yes, one thing is that a lot of electronic music is "quantized" meaning it is put directly and perfectly on a grid. Groove is about the feel that is slightly off the grid that you see heavily in funk and jazz and created by real drummers. So yes, before quantizing became easy and drum machines became prevalent, more people had to rely on the feel of the drummer. But the software these days can also implement grooves pretty well- so I guess the answer is- I don't know, but finding grooves seems to be more of a human endeavor even if the software helps. This is my perspective, but I'm sure there is much more to it.
